El Paso, Texas – The City of El Paso and Visit El Paso are honored to announce the 41st anniversary and celebration of National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW), May 18 – 25. This annual event underscores the value and essential role travel and tourism play in driving our nation’s economy, cultivating vibrant communities and forging connections.

As the City’s destination marketing organization (DMO), Visit El Paso is responsible for promoting El Paso as a desirable destination for tourists, business travelers and event attendees. As a DMO, Visit El Paso contributes to the travel industry’s critical role in powering economies, communities and connections. In 2023, nationwide travel spending left a $2.8 trillion economic footprint on the U.S. economy and supported over 15 million jobs.

During NTTW, Visit El Paso will host a week-long series of festivities to showcase the destination’s unique offerings and educate local leaders and the community on El Paso’s contributions to travel and tourism. The schedule of events promises something for everyone, from official proclamations to engaging public activities.

The tentative agenda for the week is as follows:

May 18: Bike Month | Downtown El Paso
May 20: County Proclamation Ceremony
May 21: City Proclamation Ceremony
May 21: Downtown Mural Tour | Convention Center
May 22: Aguas Frescas & Music | Convention Center Plaza

On May 18, Visit El Paso and the City of El Paso hosted a Bike Month event in San Jacinto Plaza, featuring a Bike Safety display, a bike mural ride and more.

On May 20 and May 21, guests will be invited to attend the County Commissioner and City Council meetings to hear the official Bike Month proclamations.

On May 22, Visit El Paso will have live music and give away aguas frescas to the public at the Convention Center Plaza.

On May 23, Visit El Paso will officially launch its newly designed website, VisitElPaso.com. The new site will introduce a new layout, updated user accessibility and more exciting features.

On May 25, the celebration concludes with the Ambassador Familiarization Tour, allowing locals and visitors alike to engage with our destination. Residents, visitors and prospective guests are encouraged to become an El Paso Ambassador by visiting https://training.visitelpaso.com/.

Visit El Paso encourages members of the community to share photos about their adventures as they explore El Paso, to post positive stories and to comment on their favorite local businesses or organizations sharing words of encouragement and support to the tourism industry and their community during this week using #NTTW24.
