El Paso, Texas – El Paso’s culinary excellence was recently recognized on a statewide level as four local taco hotspots were ranked in Texas Monthly’s “Top 50 Best Taco Restaurants in Texas” list. Three El Paso restaurants, Elemi, Taqueria El Tiger and Taconeta, ranked within the top ten. El Botanero Mariscos received an honorable mention in the ranking. Renowned for spotlighting the best places across the Lone Star State to savor authentic, innovative tacos, this year’s list has placed El Paso on the map, showcasing the city’s growing influence in Texas cuisine.

Elemi, located in Horizon City, earned an impressive #2 ranking in the top 50 list. Known for its dedication to traditional Mexican flavors with a modern twist, Elemi has gained widespread acclaim for its commitment to locally sourced ingredients and its mastery of heirloom corn tortillas. Since 2022, Head Chef Emiliano Marentes has consecutively been named a semifinalist for the coveted James Beard Award in the “Outstanding Chef” category.

Taqueria El Tiger, located in Socorro, Texas, received the #5 ranking – honored for its bold flavors and authentic approach to street-style tacos. Ranking in #6 is Taconeta, a contemporary taquería with a reputation for offering a dining experience that celebrates the heritage of Mexican cuisine with innovative and gourmet tacos. Also earning recognition is El Botanero Mariscos, which received an Honorable Mention for its selection of ceviche tacos.
