El Paso, Texas – The Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso and Destination El Paso invite the binational community of the Paso del Norte region to celebrate the second annual Official Grito Celebration, Vivamos México! The event will take place from 5pm to 12am on Saturday, September 14, at the Convention Center Plaza in Downtown El Paso.

Vivamos México! is a free, community-wide event celebrating the 214th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence. “The celebration of Mexico’s Independence is a tribute to the region’s history and culture, and it strives to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Mexico and the United States by sharing traditions with the Paso del Norte community,” said Consul General of Mexico, Mauricio Ibarra Ponce de León.

Guests can look forward to food truck vendors, a kid’s game zone, and family-friendly entertainment including Lucha Libre, Ballet Folklorico Camino Real, Grupo Status, La Imperial Sonora performances from local artists, and more. Free parking will be available at the Glory Road Parking Garage from 4:30 pm to 10 pm. Visitors parking at the garage can take the El Paso Streetcar, which will drop them off at the Convention Center Plaza.

Last year’s inaugural celebration was well-received by the public, with over 6,000 guests attending the event. This year’s celebration aims to attract an even larger number of attendees, vendors, attractions and more for everyone to enjoy.
