El Paso Black History Tour

Discover El Paso’s Black History

The “El Paso Black History Tour Guide” is a thoughtfully curated resource highlighting the legacy, contributions and enduring presence of African American communities in El Paso and the Paso del Norte region. Developed in 2025 through the collaboration of the Eastside Central Coalition, the El Paso Community Foundation, the El Paso County Historical Commission, the El Paso Museum of History and the McCall Neighborhood Center, the guide features 38+ historic sites dating from the mid-19th century through 2022.

What You’ll Find Inside

A 40-page full-color guide complete with a map of historic sites across El Paso’s Eastside, Five-Points, downtown and beyond.

Highlighted locations such as:

  • The McCall Neighborhood Center (3132 E. Wyoming Ave.), the heart of Black heritage and community in the region.

  • The life-work of Dr. Lawrence A. Nixon and Drusilla Tandy Nixon and their civil-rights legacy.
