At Destination El Paso (DEP), sustainability is more than just a goal—it’s a responsibility. By continuously improving operations and aligning with Legends | ASM Global’s sustainability standards, DEP is creating a greener future for El Paso and the surrounding region.
The El Paso Convention Center is dedicated to integrating sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations, ensuring that all facilities remain environmentally responsible and energy-efficient for events of all sizes. Ongoing initiatives include:
Water Conservation: Continue to partner with the local water utility and actively survey and replace all fixtures with high-efficiency models to reduce water consumption.
Best Management Practices: Continue to refine best practices in facility management and safety programs, utilizing ASM Global’s proprietary computerized maintenance system, ALTUM, to streamline maintenance and operational efficiency.
Energy Efficiency: We are retrofitting older lighting systems to LED technology throughout the Convention Center, including back office areas, warehouses, and storage rooms, significantly reducing energy usage.
Sustainable Operations: We are implementing comprehensive water and energy conservation plans to minimize our environmental footprint while maintaining a high standard of service for guests and event organizers.
Waste Management: Our team follows industry best practices to manage waste effectively, diverting landfill contributions and enhancing recycling efforts throughout the facility.
Long-Term Facility Planning: We develop and maintain a 10-year rolling capital improvement program for all managed facilities, ensuring sustainability remains a long-term priority.
At DEP, we are committed to sustainability, supporting our local community, and offering high-quality, eco-conscious dining experiences. Our food and beverage services prioritize locally sourced ingredients, plant-based options, and environmentally responsible practices to minimize waste and reduce our carbon footprint.
Supporting Local Vendors
We proudly partner with Segovia’s Fruit and Vegetables, 2Ten Roasters, and Seagram’s Bakery to bring fresh, locally sourced ingredients to our guests. By working with these valued partners, we enhance our menu offerings while supporting the El Paso economy and reducing transportation emissions.
Embracing Plant-Based Innovation
We recognize the importance of offering sustainable dining choices, which is why we feature Impossible Meat products and fresh, locally grown El Paso vegetables. These options provide delicious, nutritious, and eco-friendly alternatives that cater to a variety of dietary preferences.
Commitment to Sustainable Practices

We continuously seek new ways to increase our use of compostable, biodegradable, and recyclable materials, ensuring that our events leave a minimal environmental impact.
Reducing Food Waste & Giving Back
Through our partnership with No Lost Food, we ensure that any unused, high-quality food is redirected to feed El Paso’s less fortunate. This initiative helps combat food insecurity while reducing waste, reinforcing our dedication to social responsibility.
At the El Paso Convention Center, we believe that sustainability is not just a choice—it’s a responsibility. By prioritizing local sourcing, plant-based options, and environmentally conscious practices, we aim to create a greener future for our community and beyond.
