Schedule & Description: April 11th OR April 18th:

🌱🌷Land & Plant Teachings Walk – 9:30 am – 12:00 pm
Meet at the gazebo next to the museum parking area. This outdoor session includes storytelling, elder and culturally rooted teachings, and a guided walk to a select number of native Chihuahuan Desert plants. Participants will learn about the plants’ historical significance, cultural stories, and medicinal uses.

The Land & Plant Teachings Walk is free and open to the public. The walk follows a well-maintained trail with minimal elevation, making it accessible. Please use your discretion and consider your health when joining. While we do not anticipate turning anyone away, capacity may be limited under special circumstances.

  • Outside the Land & Plant Teachings Walk, there may be periods of standing, and seating may be limited. You’re welcome to bring a foldable chair for your comfort.

If bad weather is predicted, the walk will move indoors to a platica-style session inside the museum.

🎨🖌️ Art Workshop – 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Held inside the museum classroom, this session invites participants to reflect and create art inspired by the land-based and cultural teachings of the Chihuahuan Desert. No previous experience or expertise is required.

Art Workshop is also free and open to the public but registration is required due to limited classroom space and materials.

💫 Participants are welcome to join the walk, the workshop, or both events.💫

Additional Information:
Please bring water and sun protection for the morning walk. There will be a one-hour lunch break. A selection of snacks, small bites, fruit, and drinks will be available during the break while supplies last. Participants may also bring their own lunch or visit nearby restaurants if they prefer a more substantial meal.

All are welcome. Participants are asked to bring their presence and remain respectful of the cultural teachings shared by our elders.
