The 5th Annual El Paso 24HR Play Festival is just around the corner. If you know Teatro Neplanta, you know the 24HR Play Festival is what put us on the map. This is the start of our 5th Season of theatre, and we always start each season with the 24HR Play Festival! The Festival features over 60 artists from El Paso, Las Cruces and Juarez. 35 Actors, 7 Directors, 7 Writers, and 10 Technicians! Making this the largest live theatre event El Paso has to offer. The way it works is; all 60 artists will gather at Casa Neplanta on October 16th. There, the actors will audition for the writers and directors. Then, the writers and directors will randomly be paired together with a technician. After that, they will draft the actors based on the auditions they just witnessed. This will result in each writer/director pair having a cast of 5 actors and a technician. At this time, everyone will go home except the writers, who are now tasked with writing a brand new play between the hours of 11PM and 7AM. The writers must include many random elements they have just been assigned and all five actors they just met. At 8AM all the directors, actors and technicians will meet at Delgado Legacy Center and rehearse these brand new plays from 8AM-7PM. At 7PM the doors open and we will have live music for your enjoyment. At 7:30PM the shows begin. You will see 7 brand new 15 min plays that were just created, rehearsed and performed in under 24HRs. There are only 150 seats total and there will be a concession stand, so there is no outside food or drinks allowed. Don’t miss out on this truly unique event!
