Adapted from a gritty Marvel comic, this sci-fi buddy cop film follows a veteran agent of a secret organization who begins to train a new partner. Together they take on a rogue extraterrestrial threat hiding in plain sight across New York City. The film became a defining sci-fi comedy of the ‘90s for both its unique pop culture charm and genuinely impressive practical creature effects from legendary designer Rick Baker. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith anchor the film with effortless chemistry, trading deadpan lines and big laughs while Vincent D’Onofrio proves he is truly a master of physical comedy as the grotesque villain. Will Smith’s title theme even became a chart-topping hit and won a Grammy while the film took home the Academy Award for Best Makeup.
