Archaeologists Grant and Ellie (Sam Neill and Laura Dern) are on a fossil excavation when they’re approached by a wealthy entrepreneur named Hammond (Richard Attenborough), who will “spare no expense” to get the pair to sign off on his bold new theme park concept called Jurassic Park. It’s a place where privately funded scientists have managed to clone dinosaurs for human enjoyment (and Hammond’s financial gain). Grant and Ellie are joined by chaotician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) and Hammond’s grandchildren on a tour that quickly turns disastrous – even deadly. The special effects in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park were groundbreaking at the time and still terrify audiences without minimizing the human side of this modern classic.
