Beginner Kayaking 101! Another Great Staycation Adventure!!
Learn to paddle a kayak, a tandem kayak or a canoe downriver with confidence!
Our professional instructors will show /demonstrate river/water safety, reading the water, reading the weather, what to bring on the river paddle, different paddling strokes and making a trip plan before each outing.
After the river safety instructions, we will have each of the students in a kayak, (tethered with a rope by the instructors), giving you instructions on paddle forward, reverse paddle and paddle in place.
Once student has mastered the fundamentals, they will join with an instructor to paddle upriver a short way, then down river around an island and back to the riverbank.
After all students have accomplished these paddling tasks, we will have a short water break/restroom break.
After the break, we will instruct the students to grab their boats, and we will then paddle downriver 4 miles to the takeout! (1.5 hours)
We will then shuttle the students back upriver to their cars.
When: July 26th, Saturday
Where meetup: La Llorona Park off Picacho Road, Las Cruces, NM
Age limit: 12 years old and above.
(NOTE: choose tandem or canoe if you have a child you are signing up. Parent must accompany them.)
Ticket price: $45.00 per person, plus tax.
(Tandems and canoes have 2-persons already figured in price.)
Time duration: 10:00 AM start, 2 hours instructions near bank, short break, downriver paddle,1.5 hours, should be completed by 1:30pm.
When you purchase your tickets, your choices for boats are: * Single Kayak * Tandem Kayak (2-people) *. Canoe (2-people).
All students will be issued life jackets.
