Guest curator Ana Gabriela Becerra and Senior Curator Andres Payan Estrada lead a walkthrough of The Edge is a Center exhibition, sharing insights into the various works on view and their expansive approaches to design.

The Edge is a Center is a group exhibition highlighting the wide-ranging expressions of graphic design through the work of UTEP alumni. Their practices span murals, packaging, branding, stationery, and more—demonstrating how design crosses media, scale, and intention. The title reflects design as a discipline where boundaries are not fixed; designers define their own center, shaping meaning and visual language on their own terms.

Rooted in life along the U.S.–Mexico border, these creators do not simply move through cultural and linguistic boundaries—they reimagine them. Their work reveals a hybrid space where identities merge, structures shift, and new forms take shape. This exhibition celebrates those who transform limits into creative origin points.

Participating Artists, Designers, & Studios: Edgar Boni Soto, Lorena Mondragón, EME Design Studio, Bradford Maxfield, Rita Beltrán, Berenice Méndez, Gabriela Hernandez, and Mario Aguilar.
