The Miners open their season hosting the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona. Northern Arizona is a Division I FCS team that places in the Big Sky Conference, finishing last year with a 7-5 record. UTEP went winless last year for its worst season ever, rated as last in Division I BCS football.
