Sam Elliott gives a star-making performance as Rick Carlson, a lifeguard in his 30s who is grappling with what his future holds. After attending his high school reunion, he is forced to re-examine his career choice. Anne Archer, his now-divorced former sweetheart and Kathleen Quinlan, an infatuated teenager co star in this poignant character study set amidst the surf, sand and sun of one memorable Southern California summer. Screenplay by Ron Koslow. Directed by Daniel Petrie.
