Hike to the crash site of a Cessna UC-78 that crashed sometime during WW2 on a training mission. This aircraft was nicknamed the “Bamboo Bomber” because of the extensive use of wood in the fuselage. Despite the nickname, a significant amount of metal items and even some wood remains in place for you to see. You will head off trail up an arroyo with loose rock, cacti, thorny bushes and lechugilla.

Bring water (2 liters minimum). Wear strong hiking shoes. (This is an off-trail hike, so loose rocks and bushes abound. Cactus, thorny plants and Lechugilla are prolific.) Gloves and long pants are recommended. Bring a mask and snacks and wear sunscreen. Bring any medications that you may personally need.

Please try to arrive a few minutes early so we can have group introductions and get organized for the hike.

Meet in the 3300 block of Sheppard Avenue. **Please don’t use the chuch or apartments parking lots. **
