Playa Drain Trail at Shawver Park

March 27, 2021
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Whittier Dr, El Paso, TX

alk a portion of the Playa Drain Trail beginning at Shawver Park and ending at Whittier Drive in the Mission Valley. (There is a dedicated pedestrian and bicycle paved path from Yarbrough to Wittier along Independence.) Round trip is about 1.6-miles. We will stay on the paved section. This is a perfect outing for strollers, wheel chairs and just walking.

We will schedule a longer hike which will include the non-paved section beyond Whittier Dr. in the near future.

The Paso del Norte Trail is a community-driven, collaborative effort to develop a county-wide trail in El Paso County. The goal is to create a regionally significant landmark that promotes active transportation, preserves the history and culture of our region, highlights the Rio Grande river, supports economic development and ecotourism, provides educational and volunteer opportunities, and makes healthy living the easy choice for our unique, binational community.

The roughly 68–mile span of the Paso del Norte (PDN) Trail is divided into five distinct districts, each broadly defined by their unique geographical, historical, and cultural context, as well as various amenities and attractions that help define them.

This Celebration of Our Mountains field trip is co-hosted by the Trail Ambassadors and Live Active EP.

Please bring a liter of water. Wear good walking shoes. Remember sunscreen and a hat. There is little shade on this walk.
