N. Franklin Peak is the highest peak in the park at 7,192 feet in elevation; with over 2,000 feet in elevation gain from the trailhead to the top, you’re sure to get your heart pumping and calories burning on this amazing trek!
Meet at Tom Mays Unit – West Cottonwood Springs trailhead
Trail Difficulty: Strenuous/Difficult. Begin with a gradual incline over scree, or rubble, proving to be challenging for some; then transition to a steady climb over loose rubble/rocks. Continue to meander across the ridgeline to the highest peak in the park, North Franklin Peak! Bring your camera, the views are unbelievable with a 360 perspective of our region –with views of Mexico, the City of El Paso, and into New Mexico.
Bring: Water, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes/boots, flashlight/headlamp for darkness in the morning, hiking stick, camera, binoculars, a map and dogs are welcome on leashes!
