December, 1916. Britain has called upon the nation’s women to support the war efforts by taking up the jobs traditionally reserved for men. The Munitionettes work tirelessly in dangerous conditions to supply “shells, shells and yet more shells”. This is the story of the women of Room 42.
The Munitionettes is based on a collection of authentic accounts written by the women of the time. While the persons are fictionalized, the setting, the history and much of the dialogue remains in direct quotation of the various historical sources used in researching the event.
