From the Top, the preeminent showcase for young musicians heard weekly on KTEP 88.5 FM comes to Plaza Theatre on June 4 at 7:30 PM. This will be the third time El Paso Society for Musicians of the Future (EPSMF) has brought the hit NPR show to the Sun City. This live radio show will gather young artists from across the country for an uplifting infusion of youthful virtuosity and music-making.

This exciting recording of From the Top will celebrate EPSMF and their commitment to supporting and celebrating local young musicians, by showcasing a local 17-year-old flute player from El Paso, Madison Fanning. A senior at J.M. Hanks High School, Madison is a member of her school’s marching band and honor band, as well as the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O’Riley, this broadcast will feature amazing performances and captivating personal stories of extraordinary young musicians, including 17-year-old Arizona composer Karalyn Schubring – From the Top’s ASCAP Foundation Young Composer Award recipient – who will present an original composition, performed by From the Top Alum, euphonium player Joe Broom. Also featured on this show will be 15-year-old violinist Claire Wells. Two other performers will be announced soon.
