An acclaimed jazz vocalist and recording artist, Candice Reyes has performed internationally for over 18 years, with two albums “Crossing Over” and “Your Way” featuring GRAMMY award winner and jazz bassist Christian McBride. Candice Reyes was the first winner of the “El Paso Idol” in 2003 and represented El Paso in Anaheim California at American Idol. She then pursued her career in music at UTEP in the Commercial Music Program studying and leading her own band she then performed in El Paso since she was 14 years old. Candice moved with her husband and jazz saxophonist Juarez native Abel Mireles to New York and pursue their professional jazz careers for the past ten years. Reyes and Abel relocated to El Paso and are revitalizing the jazz scene with their music. They also established THE JAZZ EXCHANGE, which harnesses the power of jazz to empower young students in achieving musical, social, and academic growth.
