See a total eclipse of the moon. The “Blood Flower Moon” will be a 100% total eclipse that will turn a spectacular 100% reddish color, it will also be visible for nearly an hour and a half. The eclipse will be visible beginning at 8:27 p.m. on Sunday May 15 into Monday, 16, 2022. It’s going to have the spectacular red look to it for 84 minutes, making it the longest total lunar eclipse since 2018. And it won’t be topped totality-wise until June 2029. A partial eclipse will begin at 8:27 PM and the full eclipse will commence at 9:29 PM and last until 10:53 PM.

Our astronomy double header will continue tomorrow, Monday May 16th, same time and same place. Enjoy an evening of star gazing and moon watching.

Meet at Sue Young Park on Diana and Stahala in the dark, lightless field tucked away behind the playground. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, snacks, water, and your own telescope if you have one. Meet at the open field by the playground and look for the green flashlights.
