The Absolute Best Burgers in EP
Burgers are truly an American comfort food but with so many options around the city it can be difficult to decipher which hotspot to try next. So, if you’re craving a tasty burger we’ve made the search a little easier by breaking down some of our favorite burger joints.
Family owned and operated since 1986, this classic American restaurant transports you back to the 1950’s from the moment you walk through their vintage car adorned front door. Original red leather benches, great music and an all-American menu add to the ambiance found only at AJ’s. With burger names like Grease Lightnin’ and Freddie Fender, you won’t be disappointed. Although narrowing it down to just one burger wasn’t easy, we suggest the Muenster Mash served with fresh Hatch green chile and muenster cheese. Impossible burgers also available for the non-meat eater.

Frisco Burger
This old-fashioned, homegrown burger joint is a staple for many El Pasoans. Juicy patties, super soft buns and the option to splurge on double patties make Frisco Burger a must. Burgers come served in red, plastic baskets with a mountain of fries. Veggie burgers aren’t on the menu, but they are available upon request.

Papa Eric’s is keeping it simple and classic with their handcrafted burgers, fresh toppings and melted cheese. Even though this local eatery isn’t fancy, it’s super popular amongst the locals. Their hand-cut fries are not to be missed, matter-of-fact we suggest ordering an extra basket and smothering it in cheese and chili. So, what did we love at Eric’s? The bacon cheeseburger with long green chilis! The mushroom burger came in pretty close as well. No matter which burger you choose, we promise you won’t be disappointed!

This counter-service burger joint is a long-standing staple in the El Paso community. This old-school hotspot is known for serving up some of the best burgers in town but that’s not all. Their homemade chili beans make for the perfect burger topping and/or fries. Go for the traditional cheeseburger, add chili and enjoy as cheese oozes out with every bite you take!

We won’t lie, choosing which burger to order here won’t be all that easy. From their Blue Burger to the El Gran Matador Burger, the selection is endless. Making it even more difficult is which meat to choose! Elk, wild boar, salmon, blue crab, and pork are all on the menu and served fresh daily. Although difficult to narrow it down, we opted for the Booze Burger served with a delicious Guiness cheese sauce, fried onion strings and an incredibly tasty Jameson BBQ glaze. With three locations in El Paso to serve you, you’ll never be far from a savory burger found only at Toro Burger.

From local food truck to brick & mortar, RockStar Burger is downtown El Paso’s prime spot for a truly classic burger with fries. Their all-natural patties are stacked between soft, flaky buns and made fresh daily. We were big fans of their Blue Hawaiian Burger stacked with fresh spring mix, ham and thick slices of pineapple. Although their traditional fries are hard to beat, we suggest springing for the funnel fries!
