Quick Bite: Little Shack
Can’t make it to Peñasco this year? Don’t get down about it, head to Little Shack and dip into the seaside state of mind. This little restaurant—one of three locations in El Paso—offers Caribbean delicacies, top-notch fish tacos, and a wide variety of tropical cocktails to wash it all down.
Shop Till You Drop: Paradigm Texas Gift Shop
Paradigm Texas Gift Shop, a Kern Place gem, located in an old dance studio, has something for everybody. Like the store’s design, the inventory is eclectic, ranging from fine silk scarves to shave kits. One constant, however, is quality. All of the products are carefully selected and thoughtfully curated.
FIll Your Cup: Tippi Teas
Tippi Teas’ tea selection is rivaled by none, and their coffee isn’t shabby either. Beyond great beverages, Tippi Teas has a laid back, organic atmosphere that makes it perfect for studying or even daytime dates. The only drawback is all the time you’ll spend choosing what you want.
Worth the Wait: Kaedama
The successor to a popular local food truck, Kaedama, a Japanese ramen spot, opened up in 2018 to much fanfare. Seriously, there’s a line every day at lunchtime. Its reputation is much deserved: Kaedama noodles are arguably the best in town and the staff is highly professional. Oh, and loud slurping is totally okay!
Imbibe: Palomino Tavern
The Palomino Tavern has no problem standing out in El Paso’s increasingly competitive bar landscape. This place has great food and drink menus, reasonable prices and a beautiful patio that is perfect on nights when the desert just won’t cool down.
