The first in a series of 5 DIE HARD films. An off-duty New York City Police Department officer, John McClane is caught in a Los Angeles skyscraper during a heist during the Christmas holidays. Based on Roderick Thorp’s 1979 novel Nothing Lasts Forever, Arnold Schwarzenegger declined to shoot the film as a sequel to his 1985 action film Commando and Fox reluctantly gave the role to Bruce Willis, then known as a comedic television actor (Moonlighting). The rest is cinema history! Cinematography by Jan de Bont. Directed by John McTiernan.
