Domestic Violence Awareness Month, observed in October, is a time for communities to unite to remember those who have lost their live as a result of abuse, celebrate those who have survived, connect with those who work to end violence and raise public awareness about domestic violence in our communities.

Please join us as we seek to raise awareness of domestic violence. Come and hear our speakers and become educated on ways to prevent and stop the abuse. By organizing this event, we hope to empower not only the victims and the bystanders, but to help shift attitudes that perpetuate abuse and to highlight the reality that domestic violence is everyone’s business.

We invite you to gather with us at 7:00 pm on October 23rd at the Crime Victims’ Memorial (Yucca Park) in remembrance and honor of victims and survivors of domestic violence.

We will have a short program and conclude with reading the names of victims of domestic violence who have lost their lives over the past year. Each attendee will be given a candle which we will light to remember those lives lost and to shine a light on the impact of domestic violence. This is a free community event and all are encouraged to join us.
