Shakespeare on-the-Rocks will celebrate its 29th season in the theater at the Chamizal National Memorial starting on October 28, 2017. “This year we are returning to a festival format: presenting a season of three plays over three successive weekends featuring plays that we will each be doing for the last time.” says Festival Artistic Director Hector Serrano. In keeping with theme of threes, the season features one of each of the three types of plays that Shakespeare wrote: tragedy, comedy, and history.
The Festival opened with a revival of Antony and Cleopatra in October. The second play, Much Ado About Nothing continues the festival on November 4 and 5, now under the direction of Jesse Snyder. This comedy about romantic attraction, pride, betrayal, and jealousy ends with the triumph of love and reconciliation.
