Shakespeare on-the-Rocks will celebrate its 29th season in the theater at the Chamizal National Memorial starting on October 28, 2017. “This year we are returning to a festival format: presenting a season of three plays over three successive weekends featuring plays that we will each be doing for the last time.” says Festival Artistic Director Hector Serrano. In keeping with theme of threes, the season features one of each of the three types of plays that Shakespeare wrote: tragedy, comedy, and history.
The Festival opens with a revival of Antony and Cleopatra on Saturday and Sunday, October 28 and 29. Under the direction of Daniel Rios, the production, last seen in 2003, features the passionate but doomed love affair between two of the ancient world’s most colorful personalities.
