Rockhounding at Rockhound State Park

May 22, 2022
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
5252 Fairbanks Dr, El Paso, TX 79924

Explore Rockhound State Park, the first park in the US that allowed collecting of rocks and minerals. Each visitor can collect as much as 15 lbs of rocks and minerals for personal use. Learn about the local geology and then set out to search for quartz crystals, geodes, jasper, perlite, and many other minerals. Bring a collecting bag or bucket, sturdy hiking shoes, walking stick, water and snacks. We will be hiking the Jasper to Thunderegg trail for an approximate 2 miles. If time allows, we may attempt the moderate to hard, Spring Canyon trail.

We will meet at the Dairy Queen at Transmountain Rd. and I-10 at 7:45 AM and caravan to Deming. Look for the Blue Chevy Colorado. For more information contact Paul.
