Join a Park Ranger for a 3.5 moderate hike. We will make our way down a short section of somewhat steep and rocky terrain where we will meet up with the main trail. From there we will meander through hills and the lower desert floor until we arrive at the southern trail head.
Bring: water, snacks, hiking boots/shoes, and comfortable clothes.
Optional: binoculars, hiking stick, camera, and a map.
We will meet at the Lower Sunset trailhead; after paying your entrance fee or checking in at the visitor center proceed into to the park and take the first sharp left; this will take you to the picnic sites 1-5 area where we will meet to carpool to the North end of the trail.
To reserve your spot, call our office during office hours 8:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. (915) 444-9100.
Directions: From Westside on I-10, take exit 6 & travel east towards the mountains for 3.8 miles. Park entrance will be on the left. From Eastside on Hwy 54, take exit 29 towards Transmountain Rd, travel west 7-7.5 miles over/through the mountains. Park entrance will be on the right.
