HTSPHS is excited to host Irma Escontrias Sanchez, who will share family stories of ranch life in early El Paso and Socorro and discuss her family’s legacy. Ms. Sanchez is the granddaughter of Silverio and Pilar Escontrias, who operated a ranch on Park property and whose home now serves as its Interpretive Center. Silverio Escontrias is fondly remembered for establishing the first school in Socorro, Texas, known today as the Escontrias Elementary School.
Reservations are not required for the talk, but are needed to enter the self-guided area afterwards. Please call the Park Headquarters to confirm your attendance prior to the event.
