Join ace hiker, A.J., and hike into Thunderbird Canyon. Meet at 7:30 AM at the Jan Sumrall Memorial Trailhead. There is a $5 trailhead fee for this hike as it is part of the Franklin Mountains State Park.
This is an on-trail hike, it is a steady uphill to the canyon, so it is not easy, but not difficult either. No one will be left behind. This is a group endeavor. The hike distance is about 3-miles round trip at the most and should take about 3 hours depending on group size and ability. The hike is pet-friendly due to the terrain if your dog is socialized and well behaved. Please bring extra water for them and clean up after them.
Bring 2 liters of water minimum. Wear strong hiking shoes. Wear sunscreen and a hat. You might want to also bring a hiking pole. Bring snacks and any personal medications that you might need.
