In celebration of the Mexican Revolution, join local musicians, Aquiles Moon and Dali Mata to explore the art of the corrido, a traditional Mexican ballad that tells stories of struggle, resistance, and heroism. Participants will take part in two instructional sessions where they’ll learn to play and sing two classic corridos from the Revolution and learn the historical context and cultural significance behind each song. With guidance from the instructors, students will also compose a corrido of their own, blending storytelling, rhythm, and melody to share their unique voice. The workshop will conclude with a short recital where participants will perform the songs they’ve learned.
This class has three sessions. Must be available to attend all days!
Participants must bring their own guitar and have at least a beginner-level understanding of guitar playing.
