The Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso, the Centro Cultural Mexicano Paso del Norte and the University of Texas at El Paso invite the border community to the Film Festival “Época de Oro”, a time when Mexican cinema acquired its own identity and had a great artistic and commercial impact on the world.

Synopsis

Mercedes works as a singer and dancer in a cabaret known as ‘Salón México’. Although he is not passionate about his work, he does it to maintain the studies of his younger sister, Beatriz, in a prestigious school for girls only. However, Beatriz does not know the profession her sister is undergoing so that she has a better life or, at least, the life she could never have. At school, Beatriz meets Roberto, a young pilot of squad 201 who is also the son of the center’s director. In turn, when Mercedes and Paco, their operator, win a dance contest, he refuses to share the prize with her, so Mercedes decides to steal the loot without him noticing. However, the problems have just begun.
