Tom Lea’s 1938 Pass of the North mural pays homage to the pioneers as they lived rough, dangerous, and often demanding lives. Their way of life fostered the values of independence and self-reliance, reinforcing a strong sense of community that is a continuing influence today.

The Magoffins were one of El Paso’s most influential pioneering families. Their adobe home, built in 1875, was El Paso’s social center until the early 1900s. This one-of-a-kind historic house museum that shows how the Magoffins lived when the wild frontier of El Paso was turned into a modern city.

Join us as we step back into history and discover just what life on the frontier was like!

Ever wonder how how the pioneers cooked their seasonal deserts? Come discover what it took and follow a recipe from the 1898 El Paso Cookbook! Recipe, ingredients, and cooking supplies will be furnished. Cost is $5.

*There will be a more adult oriented class at 1:00 p.m.
