The El Paso County Parks & Recreation’s annual event Lights on the Lake will kick off this year with “A Night of Hope” Honoring Our Healthcare Workers. The drive-thru only event will be held on Saturday, December 12 at Ascarate Park beginning at 5:30pm. “A Night of Hope” will honor all healthcare workers for their sacrifice and dedication to the El Paso community.

“My primary objective in issuing all of the County’s Stay Home, Work Safe Orders has been to slow the spread of COVID-19, ease the burden on our hospitals, funeral homes, and on our frontlines heroes,” said County Judge Ricardo Samaniego. “A Night of Hope, is a small tribute to all of our hospital CEO’s, doctors, nurses, first responders and all of our other unsung heroes who have been working tirelessly for months to help save as many lives as possible. Their dedication, commitment and courage deserve our deepest gratitude. Rest assured that I will continue to be an ambassador for all of our heroes.”

The department is asking the public to show their support by decorating their vehicles in lights and submitting photos of any healthcare workers they wish to honor during this event. An LED Wall will be displayed with photos that the public submits, with inspirational music playing as visitors enter Lights on the Lake. Sky beams will also light the sky in their honor along with a color light show with holiday music that will be playing as visitors pass through the south end of the park.

Lights on the Lake: The annual tradition of holiday lights at Ascarate Park will begin with A Night of Hope on December 12th and will light the holidays until Wednesday, January 6th. The lights will be displayed daily from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions Lights on the Lake will be a drive-thru only event. Visitors will not be allowed to exit their vehicles to walk and view the lights as in the past.
