Join us for this exciting opportunity to learn about historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and sustainable building design!

This easy 1.5 mile bike ride is open to all levels of cyclists! This event will combine the fun monthly networking event, Green Drinks, hosted by the USGBC - Chihuahuan Desert Chapter (West Texas Advisory Council), AND a short bike ride that celebrates both El Paso Bike Month and Historic Preservation Month (which both take place in May)!

The event will start at 5:30 pm at Later, Later, a trendy new downtown bar that tells a great story of redevelopment in our downtown core. This bar was once just a small home behind the Ballpark, and now it is a downtown hotspot with a beautiful view.

Around 6:00 pm, we will walk over to the Cleveland Square Bike Share station to check out bikes (for FREE!) for those who do not have a bike for the ride. Thank you to SunCycle Bike Share for providing free bike share rides for El Paso Bike Month rides!

Once we all have our bikes, we will ride south to the Mills building to hear about how a historic building was brought back to life and now provides office space for multiple organizations downtown. You’ll hear the exciting historic preservation details from one of the project managers!

Then, we’ll bike a couple blocks east to the Martin building, which tells the story of a beautiful historic building turned into 40 new trendy downtown lofts! Learn about how this building is adding so much value to our urban core.

Next, we’ll head north to our last stop—the Artspace El Paso Lofts. You’ll hear the story of a once vacant lot at the corner of Oregon and Missouri which will soon offer 51 affordable live/ work units for artists and their families AND 5,000 square feet of multi-purpose nonprofit commercial space. What a fantastic addition to our downtown!

We’ll then bike back to the bike share station, check in our bikes, and then rejoin our friends at Later, Later for the Green Drinks event! Join us to make some new friends and learn more about the history of and stories behind our downtown buildings.

This event was brought together by the El Paso Bike Month planning team, the Texas Trost Society, the El Paso Office of Resilience + Sustainability, and the US Green Building Council West Texas Advisory Council.

Please join us and be sure to bring your helmet and bike lights (front and back)! It will be a short, easy ride and all levels of riders are welcome. If you have any questions, please call us at 915-208-9693.
