Curious about our friendly neighborhood sky monkeys? A little scared of the flying “vampires?” Can’t wait to embrace the night life of a super hero? Wherever you stand when it comes to bats, join us to learn more about these often misunderstood critters and hopefully spot one as it embarks on its nightly dinner hunt. We will begin the evening with a short presentation about bats at the Interpretive building in the Tom Mays unit to learn more about our local flying mammals. Ask questions, bust some myths, and meet our local friends. Afterwards we will car pool down to the Nature Walk for a bat walk. This will be a short and easy walks (0.75 miles) through low hills and a desert wash. We will be using an echo meter to detect bat calls in the vicinity. See what bat sounds “look” like and maybe spot one as it flies over head.
