Experience the Franklins with a Local

About GeoBetty Tours All of GeoBetty Tours rides take place in Franklin Mountains State Park. Several tour options are available however; even some of their easiest rides are true mountain bike ride. Riders should be physically fit and know how to ride a bicycle. Rides are rough, desert terrain, mostly on single track trails. Tour options range from an introductory showing what it’s like to ride our trails to epic adventures for expert riders. Rides are classified by level of difficulty making it easy for visitors to pick the right ride.

Make reservations via phone (915-533-4711) or website. A $50 deposit per person is required and all reservations include a free hotel pick up if needed. All mountain bike guides are friendly, fun, knowledgeable and have extensive experience and great skills as mountain bikers. Everyone working at GeoBetty Tours is certified in Adult First Aid and CPR.

GeoBetty Tours partners with local bike shops to supply clients with a high-quality late model mountain bike for those who don’t have their own. Make sure to bring appropriate clothing, snacks, sunscreen, water, and any other weather appropriate gear. Pricing for most tours include state park usage fee and free hotel pick-up if needed. Discounts for groups of three or more riders. Customized hiking tours in the park are also available and can be tailored to the visitors level of expertise; from short excursions to long treks.

This ride stays on the lower slopes of the mountains, but offers great views of some of the best scenery in the Franklin Mountains. The Lazy Cow and Mad Cow trails offer a fun introduction to mountain biking El Paso-style. Estimated ride time is two to three hours.

A lean and not-so-mean route on some signature east side trails plus an opportunity to go higher on the mountain. Longer climbs are rewarded with swooping descents through beautiful Chihuahuan Desert landscapes. Estimated ride time is two to three hours.

Get high on the eastern slopes of the Franklin Mountains with this challenging ride. A long early climb is rewarded with sweeping views and tight, technical downhills. Chances are you’ve never seen this much vegetation in the desert before.

A big loop on the east side of the mountains with 100-mile views, virtual forests of cactus and other desert plants. Long climbs and descents. The light on the mountains is stunning in the early morning. Estimated ride time is four to five hours.

The biggest loop through the gorgeous Tom Mays Unit of the park. Texas, New Mexico and Mexico are all in view as you enjoy long technical descents and the inevitable climbs that go with them. A true desert wilderness experience right on the edge of town. Estimated ride time is four to five hours.
