White Sands National Monument invites you to its family friendly MothaPalooza, part of National Moth Week 2017. The moths at White Sands NM are as unique as the dunes. *7 pm MothaPalooza begins with a science fair for the whole family at the visitor center. *8 pm key note address about the moths of White Sands by Eric Metzler—Alamogordo’s own recognized moth expert. *9 pm we will drive a short distance for a “moth sheeting.” Black lights will be set up to attract moths to a sheet for viewing. Dunes Drive closes at 8 pm and the monument closes at 9 am; program participants may stay at the moth sheeting until 11 p
